The Alamo

The Alamo

Official Movie Poster

THE ALAMO is a war film about the Battle of the Alamo during the Texas Revolution in the 1830’s. Commanded by Colonel Travis (Patrick Wilson), along with Davey Crockett (Billy Bob Thornton) and Jim Bowie (Jason Patric), 183 American born Texans and Tejanos fought against an attack by the Mexican army of 2,000 men at an abandon mission near San Antonio. The film portrays days leading up to the revolution as well as the Battle of San Jacinto where Sam Houston (Dennis Quaid) shouted the infamous words “Remember the Alamo!” It is there that Santa Anna’s (Emilio Echevarría) army was finally defeated, leading to the independence of Texas. THE ALAMO is officially the second biggest box office bomb in cinema history.

Boy In Store

Matt plays “Boy in Store.” Appropriately named considering the first scene Matt appears in he is sweeping in an old general store. This is the most obvious scene he is in. After that, Matt disappears until the film cuts to Sam Houston preparing to battle Santa Anna. During these scenes, it is like playing “Where’s Waldo,” trying to find Matt. He can usually be spotted next to or slightly behind Sam Houston. Matt originally had more scenes and actual lines, but for some reason or another they were cut from the film. There is a rumor that Matt did not find this out until viewing the final version at the premier. This is just hearsay and should be taken lightly until heard from Matt himself.
